City shopping visit
The cities of Caen and Rouen are both within easy reach of our accommodation centres. Both cities have extensive pedestrianised historical centres, full of shops to explore for some souvenir shopping.
Maison Satie Honfleur
The quirky former home of surrealist composer Erik Satie is a fun and interactive museum. Your group will move from room to room in a musical scenography, with UK headsets to tell the story of his life and music. Alongside this activity, the beautiful port town of Honfleur is a lovely place to explore, with cobbled streets packed full of shops, cafes, and art galleries.
Town or Village market
Dotted across the Pays d’Auge, markets are a key part of the weekly routine. Different towns and villages have their markets on different days of the week, so we can choose one that is well located for your accommodation centre. Students can try out their French amongst the market stalls, there is usually a stall to purchase hot crêpes too!
Village Fromager
The renowned cheese museum/factory at Livarot. The students can learn about cheese making, and taste the four famous cheeses of our region – Pont L’Evêque, Livarot, Neufchatel, and Camembert.
Drakkar Chocolaterie
Located near Bayeux, the ‘Musee du Chocolat’ teaches children about the art of chocolate-making, namely the regional delicacy known as ‘Drakkar’. After a tour of the museum site they then have a tasting session and a sachet of chocolates to take away at the end.
Mont Saint-Michel
This is a day-trip (morning and afternoon). Includes tickets for entry to the Abbey right at the top, with handheld tablets to bring the rooms to life. We can also organise a ‘quicksand’ tour of the bay, ask us for further information on this.
